Seahawks replace Papa John’s with Pizza Hut as official team sponsor

It took it a little longer to be delivered, but Seattle is pretty far away, so expecting it in 30 minutes was probably unfair.

The Seahawks announced they have agreed to a new multi-year deal with Pizza Hut to be their official pizza sponsor, less than a week after ending their relationship with Papa John’s.

They’re the latest team to do so, after the Falcons pulled the plug on their deal in the wake of Papa John’s founder John Schnatter’s recent racial remarks.

Supplemental Draft (July 11): This year there are three entrants—Western Michigan CB Sam Beal, Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander and Mississippi State S Brandon Bryant. After asking around the last couple days, I think there’s a pretty decent chance that two of the three get drafted.

All had academic issues. And all had other background flags that teams have had to sort through. Beal and Alexander each could’ve gone as high as the second or third round from a talent standpoint, but there are maturity concerns for both. Alexander, as I’ve heard him described, is a Seattle-type corner, while Beal is a more versatile and better cover guy, but lacks bulk and could be a liability in the run game. I think those guys have a shot to get drafted.

This is the third time as a coordinator I’ve done this, Guenther explains. My first year as a coordinator Vance Joseph was the defensive backs coach and Matt Burke was the linebackers coach. Jay Hayes was the D-line coach, he was the lone holdover. I had to teach Matt and Vance the backend stuff, the run fits, the coverages and all the details that go with it. After the Bengals had a strong defense in 2015, Joseph left for the defensive coordinator job in Miami and Burke followed as his linebackers coach. So, in 2016, Guenther had to reinstall the system for new defensive backs coach Kevin Coyle and linebackers coach Jim Haslett.

Trey Adams, OT, Washington: He’s 6’8 and 327 pounds, entering his fourth year as a starter, and was first-team All-Pac-12 for the conference champs in 201If it hadn’t been for a torn ACL in October, he might have come out this year. Adams sat out spring but is expected to be ready for fall camp in August.

Adonis Alexander, CB, Virginia Tech: Academic woes pushed his process forward, and the Seattle-type corner is now one of three players entered into the July 11 supplemental draft. If not for maturity issues, he might have been a Day 2 pick had he declared for the 2017 draft. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s taken in a couple weeks.

The two teams in the NFL that look the most like us, or several other college teams, were the two teams playing in the Super Bowl, Riley said, so when people are having success with it, that’s not going to slow down. Riley credits coaches like Pats coordinator Josh McDaniels and Eagles coach Doug Pederson for adapting certain run-action (in New England’s case) and RPO (in Philly’s case) looks to the pros.
